Issue 90 - Archaeology family fun, a daytime all ages dance party, Wildflower Action day and much more!

Friday 27th
🍿 Toddler Club: Lilo and Stitch (1-5y) 09.30 🐤
📍 The Everyman Cinema, St James Quarter
TWENTY FOUR YEARS OLD. Also showing on Sat at 10.00.
🎹 Pianocity with Will Pickvance 13.00-14.00 🆓
📍 St. Oswald’s Centre, Bruntsfield
This is a monthly, all-ages-encouraged, piano concert with the Pianist in Residence (great job title) of this new Pianodrome. I mentioned the space last week since I’d visited for the first time so I would really recommend going to check this out. The St. Oswald’s Centre also have a fantastic hall available to hire for all sorts (including kids’ birthday parties) so give them a shout if you’re wanting in with this new community hub!
💡 Find Out Fridays 13.30-16.00 🆓
📍 National Museum of Scotland, Chambers Street
These weekly drop-in sessions have different themes each week. This one will explore Gaelic culture and language in celebration of Seachdain na Gàidhlig 2026.
☕ KIN Solo Cuppa 13.30 🐣🐤
📍 Kin Collective, Leith
Haven’t noticed this before. A monthly baby/toddler group for solo and single parents. The booking link seems to cover all varieties of Kin Cuppa sessions so just make sure to book the one on this day/time for the Solo version.
Saturday 28th
🦴 Curiosity Club (7-11y) 10.30-12.00 🐔
📍 National Museum of Scotland, Chamber St
These sessions are for children to enjoy without their parents so a cheeky bonus child-free hour and a half for you! Through activities and games, the kids will explore the museum’s treasures while learning all about Giants (presumably the prehistoric ones in their current special exhibition.) There’s also the Relaxed Curiosity Club 🌻 for children with additional support needs at 14.30.
🎻 Family Ceilidh 14.00/15.15 🆓
📍 St Mark's Episcopal Church, Portobello
We’ve been to a few of these family ceilidhs and they are so much fun! The dances are highly simplified so even very young children can keep up but you can definitely still work up a sweat. Aimed at 3-9 year olds but all welcome. Free or by donation, just drop in.
🪟 Corstorphine Window Wanderland 18.00-21.00 🆓
How amazing! The lovely folk of Corstorphine will be putting on a wonderful display in their windows for the next few days so if you fancy a brisk, evening stroll, follow the trail! Check out this video for an idea of what to expect.

Sunday 1st March
✨ Aaaaaaarrrrrgh!! How am I writing about March??? Wasn’t it Christmas last week??
🦴 Giants - Relaxed Morning 10.00-12.00 🌻
📍 National Museum of Scotland
“Giants showcases the colossal prehistoric creatures that lived after the extinction of the dinosaurs, 66 million years ago.” This exhibition blew my mind with the scale of the creatures involved. No idea how I’d never heard of most of them given that they were really, actually bloody giant! It’s running til the 14th Sept but this morning is aimed at those who would prefer a quieter, less sensory stimulating experience. When we went, there were some rumbling roars and generally unsettling animal noises which my 5 year old wasn’t a fan of so just be aware if your little ones are sensitive to scary soundscapes!
🍿 The Secret of Kells 11.00
📍 Filmhouse, Lothian Road
Monday 2nd
🍃 Nature Play 09.30-11.30 🐤
📍 Saughtonhall Community Hall
Spring term starts today for this weekly outdoor session. ”Together we collect sticks, make dens and mud pies, look for mini-beasts and listen to stories in the outdoors.” Lovely stuff!
📽 Toddler Time: Tiddler (1-5y) 11.00 🐤
📍 Cameo Picturehouse, Tollcross
Great to introduce little ones to the cinema without taking the gamble on an expensive film.
Tuesday 3rd
Messy Play (0-5y) 10.15-11.00 🐣🐤
📍 Edinburgh Printmakers, Dundee St
I just discovered these weekly sessions and was excited to have last Tuesday off work with just my eldest so booked us in. Of course her little sister was then too sick for nursery so we all sat at home watching telly instead. Best laid plans…
Wednesday 4th
📽 BABYCLUB: Wuthering Heights 12.15 🐣
📍 The Dominion, Morningside
Bring your baby to watch an actual grown-up film with some very comfy seats should you decide instead to have a wee snooze in the dark. The babies might, of course, have some opinions on this. ✨ Also on Thu 5th at the Everyman at 10.45.
⛔️ SOLD OUT! Tenement Jazz Band for Kids + Disco 14.00-15.45 (doors at 13.30)
📍 The Jazz Bar, Chamber St
Another kid-friendly, live gig at the Jazz Bar where the children can get up close and personal with the music, the grown ups can have a guilt free drink in a bar and everyone gets a bonus half our of dancing after the show.
Thursday 5th
✨ It’s World Book Day! Don’t forget those costumes for the kids going to nursery/school. I love the concept of dressing as favourite characters in theory, but in practice, I’m going to say it - it’s a pain in the arse!
🖼️ ABC (Art/Baby/Connect) (0-1y) 10.00-12.00 🐣🆓
📍 Modern One
Coffee, biscuits and a bit of relaxing art with materials provided and no experience necessary. Sounds perfect.
📚 Bookbug 10.30-11.00 🆓
📍 National Library of Scotland, George IV Bridge
Every Thursday.
✨ The rest is for my heroes - thanks for keeping this newsletter going!
